SPECIALISTS IN POISON INFORMATION
The Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center Hotline is always staffed by medical professionals, known as Specialists in Poison Information (SPI). Our SPIs are nurses, pharmacists, and physicians who are specifically trained to help all callers with poisoning emergencies and poison-related questions.
Betsy Adams
RN, BSN, CSPI
I am an RN, BSN, and Certified Specialist in Poison Information – I have been a nurse for 30 years, working in both the hospital and outpatient settings.
Saira Syed, MD, CSPI
My five years at Michigan Poison Center have immersed me in the exciting, fast paced environment of toxicology.
Elizabeth Burnham, PharmD, SPI
My name is Elizabeth Burnham, and I am one of the newest members of the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center. I am a PharmD and Specialist in Poison Information (SPI).

I am a physician by training, and I have been with the Michigan Poison Center for 12 years.
I am an international medical graduate with a wide variety of experiences in the field of medicine. I have worked in clinics, hospitals, and in numerous healthcare settings.
